January Currently

Happy New Year!

Let's celebrate with this month's Currently.

Listening to Parks & Rec...not going to lie, we've pretty much  had an all day marathon. Oops! But then what are vacations for if not to lounge around?!?!?

Loving this winter break!  After traveling all over CA to visit family and friends during the first week of break, I am finally back in my cozy little apartment with my kitty and fiancee. Perfect day of relaxing and lounging today..... I <3 you, Winter Break!

Thinking about my never ending to do list. I spent the first half of my break traveling and you already know that I spent today relaxing away. Tomorrow is all about gettinng things done: lesson planning, grading, grocery shopping, oh my!

I am not wanting anything at the moment. Feeling blessed and content.

Needing to do a  loooottt of laundry. Too much laundry!!!
Ecard laundry breeds while I'm asleep        Should I do laundry or buy more clothes? #ecard

My favorite memory of the break was spending the day with my Mama and Grandma. A little coffee, a little lunch and a whole lotta shopping. Just a few of my favorite things! :)

Now if you haven't done it all ready...go link up with Farley.

I hope you all are enjoying the start to 2014!

Tell Me Something Good

I am linking up with Jennifer over at Rowdy in First grade for a little bit of positive thinking. These last few weeks have been completely a  little crazy and today was no exception, so I think Jennifer's linky is perfect way to end this busy day.

Something Good at School:
- We've made a ton of progress in math! I love, love, love Stephanie's Calendar Math and I've already seen so many benefits from using her product. Check it out! You won't be disappointed.

-My kiddos are really getting into Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'dell and I feel like they are learning a ton of new stuff as they read.

I was a little nervous about it because it is much more complex than the other novels we've read so far this year.

- My first formal observation went well. I HATE being observed. I can never sleep the night before and I get way too nervous during the lesson but things went well and now I am DONE... until next semester. Whew!

Something Good at Home:

-I spent the entire weekend in my hometown doing absolutely nothing except soaking in some family time. Such an amazing weekend...shopping with my momma, dinner at my grandama's, lunch with my cousin. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! :)

-My boyfriend's mom made me the most AMAZING pumpkin chocolate chip bread. I've been looking forward to having it for dessert ALL day long. It's the little things that make me happy!

Take a minute to link up! I can't wait to read about the good things going on in blogland. :)

I've been boo'd!

Love this fun little linky that has been going around. Reminds me of a Secret Santa! :)

I was boo'd by Mrs. Young over at Young Daze in 5th Grade. Head on over and check her blog out!

I am a little fuzzy on the rules for this linky but I know it has something to do with sharing some October books and spreading the Boo'd love!

So here it goes....

Fave Halloween Books:

I know this ones been passed around for awhile but my kiddos love it every time!

The current favorite in our class.

Now, let the BOOING begin!

I am booing Kim over at Literacy Sundae. I just stumbled upon her blog...actually she stumbled upon mine and then I stumbled back onto hers. Anyway, it is ADORABLE and she has lots of great ideas too! Go visit!

Literacy Sundae

I am also booing Sara at Miss V's Busy Bees.  Another adorable bloggy-blog. And she's always keeping me up to date on all the blog happenings.

 Miss V’s Busy Bees

And  last, but certainly not least, Michelle from Just Wild About Teaching. Love her fun ideas. Makes me wanna teach the littles! :)

Now get busy and start BOOING!

Something Good

Blogging two days in a row?!?!?!? I must be catching my school year stride. :)

I am linking up with Jennifer at Rowdy in First Grade for this fun little party.

At school:

My kids HEART writing-- like big puffy heart writing! They are writing every day and the only moans and groans I here are "What? Times up?" and "C'mon give us 5 more minutes!".

We read The Mysteries of Harris Burdick today (If you haven't read it, it's a must read).

The story is really a collection of drawing with open ended captions. The students used a picture and caption from the book as inspiration to write their own creative stories. My kiddos spent 15 *SILENT* minutes writing. With these kids 15 minutes of silence is a miracle! And they also listened quietly as students sat in the author's chair to read their stories aloud. *Proud Teacher*

At Home:
I am ready for a productive weekend. I know that doesn't sound too exciting but I finally have time to breathe and ORGANIZE!!! I have a to-do list a mile long and I also have some motivation and energy.  I am planning a morning of grading and lesson planning at my fav Starbucks, tons of errands and then maybe a little shopping for myself afterward. I mean I deserve it after grading on a Saturday morning, right?

Link up with Jennifer and let us all in on the positive things going on in your life! Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!
