January Currently

Happy New Year!

Let's celebrate with this month's Currently.

Listening to Parks & Rec...not going to lie, we've pretty much  had an all day marathon. Oops! But then what are vacations for if not to lounge around?!?!?

Loving this winter break!  After traveling all over CA to visit family and friends during the first week of break, I am finally back in my cozy little apartment with my kitty and fiancee. Perfect day of relaxing and lounging today..... I <3 you, Winter Break!

Thinking about my never ending to do list. I spent the first half of my break traveling and you already know that I spent today relaxing away. Tomorrow is all about gettinng things done: lesson planning, grading, grocery shopping, oh my!

I am not wanting anything at the moment. Feeling blessed and content.

Needing to do a  loooottt of laundry. Too much laundry!!!
Ecard laundry breeds while I'm asleep        Should I do laundry or buy more clothes? #ecard

My favorite memory of the break was spending the day with my Mama and Grandma. A little coffee, a little lunch and a whole lotta shopping. Just a few of my favorite things! :)

Now if you haven't done it all ready...go link up with Farley.

I hope you all are enjoying the start to 2014!

June Currently

I've been a little MIA lately but summer is (finally!) here so I am BACK! :) I'm linking up with the ever popular Farley for the June Currently.

Explanations:

Listening to Arrest & Development...and have been since Monday. :)

Loving that I am officially on summer break. Our last day was Friday and I have been living it up (and sleeping a lot) since the final bell rang.  :)

BUT...

I'm thinking about Summer School which starts in just a week. EEEK!!!!

This should help with my want: more funds. Who am I kidding, I always want more funds but with all of the quick trips and mini vacays I have planned the extra funds are really a necessity. Work hard, play hard, right??? (And don't feel too bad for me because summer school is only 3 weeks.)

Bringing me to my 3 vacay essentials.....

1) Us Weekly --A guilty pleasure of mine which I enjoy so much more if read by a lake, pool, beach or other body of water.
2) A floatie for said lake, pool, beach or other body of water. This one is my fav. It's from Target and super cheap, too!
Intex Pink Floating Seat 47"x38"x11"
3) AC  If I'm inside I want to be cool....too bad my summer school classroom does not have AC. Seriously! No, AC. I do live in the SF Bay Area so it doesn't get hotter than 80 degrees but still....a little cool air would be nice!

Hope you are all enjoying your first days of summer or your last days of school!

Currently

Happy Cinco de Mayo, all!

Well, I'm a little late to the fiesta but here's my May Currently:

Anyone else feeling that end of the year crunch?!?!?

I am so ready for summer but I have about a million and one activities I want to throw in over the next few weeks. (Were outta school in 25 days....)  Not to mention the fact that I still need to plan the end of the year field trip and figure out the end of the year party stuff. So I sit here with my coffee cup (ready for a refill) and my laptop planning away....

Good thing I will be relaxing next weekend in one of my favorite places, Chico, California.

I will be here:
An early spring scene at the pool at One Mile in Bidwell Park, Chico.

And Here:
(See more gorgeous shots of the market from Wayward Spark  HERE)

And no trip to Chico would be complete with out a stop here:
5th Street Menu

I'm excited!! Can you tell?!?!? :) Our annual May Chico trip always makes it feel like summer is truly here! So nice to take a break from the foggy Bay Area weather and head to my college home for a littlle R&R and summer sun!

What do you have up your sleeves these last weeks of school???

Currently and Super Bowl Fun

Hello and happy Super Bowl Eve! I am linking up with the amazing Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade.
Click on over and link up too!

I came down with a bug Wednesday and by Friday my voice was totally gone. I have been spending today in recovery mode.
After a day lazing around the house, I am now getting ready for a little late night Walmart shopping spree. (Such is the glamorous life of an elementary school teacher!)

I'm in search of a 49er's gear and craft supplies.  Now I am NOT a sports fan but I do  live in the San Francisco Bay Area so I am jumping on the 49er's bandwagon....just like I jumped on the Giants bandwagon when they one the World Series....I know you sports fans look down on that kind of behavior but that is just how I roll.

I also need to grab some goodies for Valentine's Day crafts and science lessons for the week. I was afraid to brave the crowds today (see the above pet peeve: traffic) so night time shopping it is....

Before I go I wanted to share one of  my all time favorite recipes for Super Bowl or any other party (it's nice enough for bridal showers and holiday dinners, too!). Now I am not a chef by any means but this recipe is easy and yummy too. It is originally from Pampered Chef but every time I need it I just call my mama! She's made it so many times that she has it memorized.

Cheesy Artichoke Triangles Squares

Makes 24 servings
2 packages (8-ounce each) refrigerated crescent rolls
2 packages (8-ounce each) cream cheese, softened
1 cup (4 ounces) fresh Parmesan cheese, grated, divided
2 eggs
2 teaspoons lemon pepper seasoning mix, divided
1 can (14-ounce) artichoke hearts in water, drained and chopped
1 garlic clove, pressed
2 plum tomatoes, sliced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, snipped
1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Separate dough into 4 long rectangles. Press rectangles to make a crust in the bottom of an ungreased 15-x-10-x-1-inch pan, firmly pressing perforations to seal. Press crust up sides of pan. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown.
2. Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add 1/2 cup of the grated cheese to the batter, then eggs and 1 teaspoon of the lemon pepper. Blend well. Add artichokes and garlic to cream cheese mixture and mix well. Spread evenly over baked crust. Thinly slice tomatoes and arrange over filling. Toss parsley with remaining Parmesan and sprinkle evenly over filling.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown and set. Cool 10 minutes before cutting into 12 squares, then cutting squares in half to make 24 triangles. Serve warm.

Note: Your supposed to cut these into petite little triangles, but when it comes to food me and my mama are on the same page. Ain't nobody got time for that! We cut these cheesy wonders into large rectangles and chow down. :) However, you decide to cut them, I'm sure you'll like them! :)
These are seriously the best things. EVER.
I hope you all enjoy your Super Bowl weekend!

Winter Break Recap & A Currently

Can you believe it is time for another currently already?!?!?! Time flies when you're finishing classroom crafts, throwing those last few assessments, wrapping presents, shopping like a maniac, driving all over the state having fun!

In all honesty, this last month has been oh so busy but also oh so fun! I had a very California Christmas with my family in Central Coast and snapped this picture on Christmas day.

As I have crisscrossed the entire state of California over the last week or two, I am continually reminded of how blessed I am to be surrounded by good people and have a job that I love! I am also so blessed to have a two week break so that I am able to visit my family and friends and celebrate the holidays with the ones I love the most!

Oh and I need to pick your brain for ideas! My mom gave me  Cricut for Christmas! I am so excited to start using it! I have been out of town so much that I haven't really had a chance to play with it yet but I am planning to carve out some time tomorrow to make a few new things for the classroom.

 Do you have a Cricut?
How do you use it for classroom stuff???
Any must have accessories? Favorite cartridges?
I need ideas!

Without further ado...my currently:

If you haven't done it already, go link up with Farley and join the currently party!

Wishing you all a happy & healthy 2013!

Currently

It's that time again! Time to link up with Farley  for this month's currently. Don't you just love the fun Christmas graphics on this one?!?!?!

My responses are pretty self explanatory this time around. I am finally starting to get into the holiday spirit  I really tried to get into it last week but I couldn't bring myself to pull out the decorations or start my shopping. This weekend that might actually happen! This cold weather is making Christmas feel a little bit closer. Changing the Calendar over to December helps too!

Speaking of December and Christmas....I wanted to share a link to The Family Giving Tree. It is a great organization  Every year our local Wells Fargo partners with them. You can choose a child from the tree in their lobby and purchase presents for them. I know that their are similar charity drives going on through different organizations. I have participated in several similar organizations over the years and I can truly say that purchasing a gift each year is one of my very favorite parts of Christmas.

I hope you all are having a great start to the holiday season! Don't forget to link up! Head on over to Oh Boy Fourth Grade!

Happy October and a Currently!

Happy October everybody! Here in California our heat wave seems to be dying down a bit and I am actually starting to feel a little fall chill in the air. I am planning on soaking in as many RELAXING fall activities as possible this weekend. It's been a long week ya'll.

On to the currently...
My kiddos are loving this book (especially my boys!). It is sometimes hard to find holiday books that aren't too young for my 5th graders. This one works well for the older set and  I am all for any book that gets a couple of wiggly, reluctant readers engaged and reading! :)

I am pretty sure most everything else on my currently is fairly self-explanatory. As I said before it has been a looonnngg week so I am enjoying my Wednesday night and vegging out to the fullest extent as I catch up on my favorite shows and pin away. That is my kinda night! The only thing that would make it better is a glass an ipad ...or a glass of  wine...or ....

I am so looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Do you all have Monday off? In my district we've always celebrated Indigenous Peoples Day (rather than Columbus Day), but in the past we didn't have the day off. This year we do! I am loving this new change! In honor of my 3 day weekend, I think I might finally redeem my gift certificate and get a long awaited massage. Sounds like a good way to rejuvenate and kick off a new month! :)

What have you been up to? Link up with Farley and share!

Wishing you all a wonderful rest of the week and relaxing weekend, too!

Currently!

Happy Labor Day everybody! I hope you are all having an amazing day off.  Labor Day is always a little bitter sweet. I love fall but summer is just so sweet...it is hard to let it go. Oh well, such is life!

Now on with the currently... I am so excited to be linking up with Farley at Oh, Boy Fourth Grade!

I think we can all agree that sleeping in on a Monday is pure bliss! And I can really say that my Labor Day weekend has been a great end to a wonderful summer.

I spent an amazing weekend with my very bestest and oldest friends in the world. We all met in kindergarten and I always treasure the time we get to spend together. This weekend we got together and pretty much talked and laughed for 24 hours straight. It always amazes me how we can just pick up like no time has passed. The visit was good for my soul!

I came home in time to spend Labor Day at home.  Sleeping in + my FAVORITE Starbucks Rice Krispie treats + a little shopping = a good day in my book! I am headed to a BBQ with my boyfriend's family in a little. MMM....love me some BBQ, too!

Now I just gotta get my booty in gear so I am ready for reality tomorrow. I signed up to teach an after school program two days a week and it starts tomorrow. Art class with K - 5th graders should be fun and very messy! (Guess tomorrow is not the best day to wear my new jeans!)

I hope you all have a wonderful week! I am sending out a little extra love to those of you who are starting school this week!
